บีเอ็มดับเบิลยูสร้างเซอร์ไพร์สให้วงการยานยนต์ไทยอีกครั้ง ด้วยการนำรถ BMW X6 เข้าร่วมแสดงในงานบางกอก อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล มอเตอร์โชว์ ครั้งที่ 29 นี้ ไฮไลต์อยู่ที่การเปิดตัว ให้ชาวไทยได้ชมโฉมอย่างใกล้ชิดเป็นที่แรกและที่เดียวในเอเชีย
นายมิคาเอล คอร์ดิส ประธาน บีเอ็มดับเบิลยู กรุ๊ป ประเทศไทย กล่าวว่า ในปีนี้ บีเอ็มดับเบิลยูพร้อมนำ BMW X6 เข้ามาทำตลาดในไทยเร็วๆ นี้ นอกจากนั้น ในงานมอเตอร์โชว์ เรายังจะเน้นทำตลาดรถที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีเครื่องยนต์ดีเซลเป็นตัวหลักในการผลักดันยอดขาย
สำหรับ BMW X6 เป็น Sport Activity Coupe คันแรกของโลก ซึ่งผสมผสานกันระหว่างรูปทรงของสปอร์ตคูเป้ขนาดใหญ่ และสมรรถนะของเครื่องยนต์ที่ตอบสนองได้ดีเช่นเดียวกับการขับรถสปอร์ต รวมไปถึงตำแหน่งการนั่ง ความคล่องตัวในการควบคุมบังคับ พร้อมระบบ xDrive รูปแบบใหม่ของการขับเคลื่อนแบบ All-Wheel Drive ควบคุมการทำงานด้วยระบบอีเลคทรอนิคซึ่งได้รับการพัฒนาล่าสุดและติดตั้งอยู่เพียงแค่หนึ่งเดียวในเอ็กซ์ 6 เท่านั้น
เทคโนโลยี Dynamic Performance Control จะมีผลทำให้สมรรถนะการขับเคลื่อนเป็นไปด้วยดีจากการกระจายกำลังลงสู่ล้อด้านซ้าย-ขวาบนเพลาหลังโดยเป็นอิสระจากกัน ซึ่งรถที่บีเอ็มดับเบิลยูนำมาจัดแสดงในงานนี้ เป็น BMW X6 xDrive 50i ใช้เครื่องยนต์เบนซินแบบ วี 8 สูบ เป็นครั้งแรกในโลกที่ได้นำเอาทวินเทอร์โบมาติดตั้งอยู่ในตำแหน่งระหว่างรูปทรงตัววีของแนวกระบอกสูบทั้ง 2 ข้าง
โดย เครื่องยนต์วี8 ตัวนี้เป็นแบบ ทวินแคม 32 วาล์ว และเทอร์โบคู่ ให้กำลังสูงสุด 407 แรงม้า ที่ 5,500-6,400 รอบ/นาที แรงบิดสูง 62.1 กก.-ม. ที่รอบต่ำตั้งแต่ 1,800 -4,500 รอบต่อนาที อัตราเร่งทันใจอย่างไม่น่าเชื่อว่าจะเป็นเอสยูวี เพราะใช้เวลาเพียง 5.3 วินาทีในการทะยานจาก 0-100 กิโลเมตร/ชั่วโมง ส่วนความเร็วปลายถูกล็อกเอาไว้ที่ 250 กิโลเมตร/ชั่วโมง
ส่วนรุ่นที่คาดว่าจะนำเข้ามาทำตลาดในเมืองไทยจะเป็นรุ่น BMW X6 xDrive35i ซึ่งบรรจุเครื่องยนต์เบนซินบล็อก 6 สูบเรียง ทวินแคม 24 วาล์ว 3,000 ซีซี เทอร์โบคู่ พร้อมระบบไดเร็กต์อินเจ็กชัน ที่แจ้งเกิดมาจากเวอร์ชันคูเป้ของซีรีส์ 3 เครื่องยนต์รุ่นนี้มีกำลังสูงสุด 300 แรงม้า ที่ 5,800-6,250 รอบต่อนาที และแรงบิดสูงสุด 41.4 กก.-ม. ที่ 1,400-5,000 รอบต่อนาที ใช้เวลา 6.7 วินาทีในการทำอัตราเร่ง 0-100 กิโลเมตร/ชั่วโมง และความเร็วปลายอยู่ที่ 240 กิโลเมตร/ชั่วโมง สำหรับสาวกค่ายใบพัดฟ้าขาวเตรียมเก็บเงินรอได้เลย
